Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking an Mainframe ON-CALL Support Analyst to join their team. As an Mainframe ON-CALL Support Analyst , you will be part of the PTS/R technology team supporting internal clients. Position Overview:
This role supports a large-scale CICS/TS environment within a zOS parallel SYSPLEX setup. The environment includes complex, multi-tiered applications utilizing MRO, IMS, VSAM files, and DB2. The role encompasses software implementation, maintenance, certification testing, development, and documentation of operational procedures. It also involves problem debugging, root cause analysis, and interaction with software vendors. The position requires off-hours and weekend work, as well as participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Responsibilities:
Software Implementation and Maintenance: Implement and maintain software in a large-scale CICS/TS environment.
Certification Testing: Conduct thorough certification testing to ensure software reliability and performance.
Operational Documentation: Develop and document operational procedures for efficient system management.
Problem Debugging and Analysis: Perform debugging and root cause analysis to resolve issues effectively.
Vendor Interaction: Engage with software vendors for support and issue resolution.
Collaboration: Interface with application developers, support teams, software vendors, and management staff to ensure seamless operations.
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Background: Strong technical background in the z/OS mainframe environment.
CICS/TS Operations: Proficient knowledge of CICS/TS operations.
JCL Proficiency: Skilled in using JCL and various vendor utility programs.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in COBOL and CICS Command Level language programming.
Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Programming Languages: Experience with Rexx, Assembler, COBOL, or Java.
CICS Web Interface: Knowledge of the CICS Web Interface.
Security: Familiarity with RACF (Resource Access Control Facility).
Modern zOS Tools: Experience with zOS Connect and/or zOSMF (z/OS Management Facility).
Additional Requirements:
Availability: Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, and participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.
