Pay

This position is an Exempt position at pay grade 215.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supports hardware on servers, SAN, racking equipment, and other Data Center equipment

• Installs, tests, monitors, upgrades, troubleshoots, and repairs assigned computers and network equipment

• Maintains firmware and peripherals including network cabling and power cords

• Stays current on all assigned hardware

• Configures hardware to include upgrades and patches

• Supports operating systems, virtualization, Active Directory, utilities, patch management, service desk, antivirus, backups, SAN, LAN/WAN, and other software including cloud software as required

• Installs, tests, monitors, upgrades, troubleshoots, and repairs assigned software

• Researches software issues with available resources including the internet

• Manages user account information including rights, security, and systems groups

• Configures software to include upgrades and patches

• Manages cloud systems

• Keeps up with the latest technologies as assigned

• Maintains knowledge of assigned technologies with provided training and resources

• Maintains various records and documentation for computer and networking systems

• May be asked to write scripts or other computer code

• Resolves user problems

• Provides guidance for the resolution of complex problems

• Corrects routine problems by making repairs to computer equipment and/or entering specialized commands or data into systems

• Contacts appropriate resources for additional assistance

• Monitors critical network, security, applications, and endpoints

• Identifies service issues in a timely manner, updates, and escalates them as required to determine emergency restoral procedure to resolve service

• Performs daily routine alarm monitoring and operational activities to reduce or eliminate any operational issues

• Proactively investigates suspicious activities, ensuring that potential security incidents are correctly defended, identified, analyzed, investigated, and escalated

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's Degree (AA/AS)

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience

• A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered

• Microsoft certifications preferred

• Experience with virtualization preferred

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
