Job Description

We have an opening for a Java Developer. You will work on new and emerging enterprise web applications supporting critical business applications that support the mission of the Laboratory. You will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of sophisticated Java-based Web Application Services and JavaScript-based Angular UI's. This position is in the Enterprise Applications Services Division within the Computing Directorate, in support of the LivIT Business Enablement Program Area.

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

Pay Range

$132,810 - $170,556 annually for an SES.2
$159,330 - $204,636 annually for an SES.3

In this role, you will
  • Support critical business functions through the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications and systems using the latest tools and technologies including Java, JDBC, JavaScript, TOAD, Hibernate, OOD, SQL, Oracle, and other related technologies.
  • Contribute software design, development,and OOP architecture expertise to multiple projects and ensure that specifications are met.
  • Design, code, implement, test, debug, maintain, and document software applications.
  • Prepare and follow established software development standards and contribute to the future improvement of these standards.
  • Research, develop, and contribute to complex, mission critical, role-based, enterprise level, full stack, restful, web-based applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.3 level
  • Conceptualize, develop designs, and implement solutions, in collaboration with key stakeholder customers and other developers.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems that require in-depth analysis.
  • Manage advanced parallel tasks and priorities of customers and stakeholders, ensuring deadlines are met, while leveraging team members' skills.

Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration with concentration in Computer Information Systems or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Comprehensive experience in Java applications development including Java, Play Framework, Hibernate, JPA, and Web Services.
  • Proficiency with HTML5, responsive design, CSS/SCSS, and component libraries.
  • Experience with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq. Comprehensive experience with JavaScript frameworks including Angular.
  • Broad experience working with databases including Oracle, and MongoDB.
  • Proficient with Oracle PL/SQL.

Additional qualifications, at the SES.3 level
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a technical team environment to present, explain and provide advice to management.
  • Significant experience leading technical efforts and recommending technical approaches and solutions.
  • Significant experience in multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple and complex tasks in a dynamic work environment under time constraints with changing priorities.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience working with LLNL ES&H stakeholders in support of chemical tracking and inventory software
  • Knowledge of business processes that support chemical inventory tracking and management, including Safety Data Sheets

Site 300

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis ).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
