Jefferson's in-house temp service, JeffTemps, is searching for multiple Fire Safety Specialists who can support our Fire Safety & Emergency Management Team.
Hours: 40 hours a week | Location: PA and/or NJ Jefferson Campuses

Job Duties

Reporting to the Enterprise Chief Fire Safety & Emergency Management Officer, the Fire Safety Specialist performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks. This role involves training, planning, organizing, directing, and implementing fire prevention, overseeing hazardous materials mitigation, managing emergency situations, and coordinating structural collapse prevention. This coordination is done in partnership with Clinical Leaders, EHS (Environmental Health and Safety), PDC (Planning, Design, and Construction), and Facilities.

The strategic goals of this program are to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property due to fires, hazardous material spills, emergency management situations, catastrophic events, and other related incidents. The Fire Safety Specialist also collaborates with the Chief of Fire Safety, Jefferson Police, Regional Public Safety Directors, and Clinical Emergency Management Leaders to develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive emergency management guidance plans for the Jefferson enterprise.

  • Ability to conduct themselves in a positive and effective manner. Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious, strategic, collaborative, and productive working relationships with officials, fire service officials, and Jefferson stakeholders
  • Requires the ability to plan, assign, direct, work and coordinate/direct large-scale operations of personnel and equipment making sound judgments under stressful situations
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws relating to the fire service; knowledge of building construction; basic knowledge of fire suppression equipment operation, HazMat mitigation, and emergency management coordination


Qualifications

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in fire science or related field preferred; and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fire/rescue, emergency management, emergency medical services, public safety, and law enforcement

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
  • Fire Fighter Certification (Pro-Board), EMT Certification, Certified Fire Officer, Certified Fire Inspector, Certified Fire Investigator & Certified Fire Instructor preferred
