Leidos is seeking a journeyman database administrator r esponsible for performing tasks relating to Database Management System (DBMS) applications, including definition, design, structure, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Duties include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Support duties may include entering and reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area. Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff.
  • Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge.
  • Communicates with internal and client project team members. Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches. Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of database or software development, or database management experience.
  • Strong experience with design, installation configuration, testing, migration and implementation as well as administration experience of Oracle database, MS SQL database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Weblogic Server, Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports and Apache HTTP server and/or Apache Tomcat WebServer on Linux, and Windows platforms.
  • Extensive experience administrating applications and software in Linux command-line environment and able to use Linux commands and tools to troubleshoot issues, parse and evaluate log files, etc.
  • Translates business requirements and database administration operational requirements into long-term architecture solutions. • Develop data migration plans to migrate legacy on-premises databases to new environments (Knowledge of cloud data stores would be a plus).
  • Excellent understanding of Oracle SQL / PL/SQL skills and Performance tuning.
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle partitioning, Indexing and Compression Experience developing complex business logic in the Oracle database using PL/SQL.
  • Understanding of the java language - common class files, command line configuration options, ability to interpret Java errors in log files. Experience with installation, management and troubleshooting of Oracle Forms and Reports.
  • Proven experience with any identity, authentication, and authorization systems.
  • Installation and management of security certificates.
  • Scripting skills to automate jobs and ability to write and revise bash/ksh/batch/WLST scripts.
  • Experience with file transfer mechanisms like ftp/sftp using command line and batch scripts with file encryption standards like pgp.
  • Solid knowledge of database and application triggers, stored procedures, PL/SQL, Linux/Windows environments, and third-party tools such as Toad and OEM.
  • Good understanding and experience with various operating systems such as Unix, Linux (preferably Red Hat), and Windows etc.
  • Knowledge of disparate data sources and targets • Knowledge of data validation, cleansing, transformation, consolidation, de-duplication, aggregation, de-aggregation, and enrichment
  • Knowledge of API development and testing Additional Preferred Experience:
  • Strong hands-on experience with the Oracle RMAN Backup and Restore, Point-in-time recovery, Export and Import Data Pump utilities and partitioning Oracle databases.
  • Leverage tools like OEM, AWR, ASH, ADDM Expdp/Impdp, SQL Tuning Advisor, SQL Plan Baselines.
  • Knowledge on features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Active Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and database replication a plus.
  • Good written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills; easily translatable between technical and business audiences.
  • Typically requires BS and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in software or database development, or a related field.
  • Ability to be cleared by the US Government via a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).

Desired (Nice to Have) Qualifications:
  • Experience working on projects within the Federal Government, with a focus in an IRS/Treasury environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of all the processes, business rules, and technology components within the Computer Assisted Publishing System (CAPS) used at IRS.

Pay Range: Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
