What You'll Do:
The purpose of the Office of Academic Success is to challenge and prepare all Ohio learners for their futures by empowering educators with world-class standards, best-in-class model curricula, high-quality instruction and ongoing professional learning
opportunities.
On behalf of the Office for Exceptional Children and the Office of Academic Success, serves as the primary Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) grades K-12 mathematics content specialist responsible for collaborative development, coordination and management of statewide education policy specific to identification and effective implementation of mathematics into teaching and learning for students with disabilities.
Provides guidance, coordination, and support to stakeholders for the implementation of
mathematics standards as they relate to students with disabilities.
As part of the Academic Success team and the Diverse Learners
team, conducts research on best and promising practices for teaching and
providing interventions for students with disabilities and provides guidance to
districts through the development of resources, tools, and professional learning
related to Ohio's Learning Standards for mathematics:
- Ensures current standards, curriculum, and assessment (including state and
classroom) information is available through a variety of sources (e.g., web, email,
newsletters, meet-ups, webinars, web conferencing, social media)
- Creates and disseminates professional learning opportunities and awareness
sessions
- Supports the work of the offices by working with external groups such as
educational service centers, higher education, professional associations, and
other stakeholder groups
- Supports department or office initiatives (e.g., high school pathways, High-
Quality Instructional Materials and Strategic Plan)
- Strong understanding of K-12 learning standards, inclusive instructional and
intervention strategies, professional learning topics and resources.
Supports the update and maintenance of the model curriculum and other instructional resources (especially for grades k-12):
- Assists with the integration of technology in instruction
- Assists in the integration of career connections into the model curriculum
- Facilitates internal and external groups to provide feedback, develop resources
and tools
Performs other related duties as assigned, which includes:
- Internal workgroups
- Attending meetings and conferences
- Preparing correspondence and reports for cross-agency distribution
- Presenting to key stakeholders

Qualifications
6 years of experience working in an educational setting (i.e., k-12, higher education) in one of the following capacities:
Special consideration will be given to applicants that have experience in teaching or working with teachers and special educators (e.g., intervention specialists and related service providers) in grades K-12.

Qualifications
6 years of experience working in an educational setting (i.e., k-12, higher education) in one of the following capacities:
- Educational Administration; teacher, intervention specialist, related service provider or administrator with experience in the development of district/school-wide curriculum/assessments).
Special consideration will be given to applicants that have experience in teaching or working with teachers and special educators (e.g., intervention specialists and related service providers) in grades K-12.
