POSITION SUMMARY
To prepare and maintain health science laboratories and to assist health science faculty as directed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works independently under the direction of the dean and health science faculty. Sets up supplies, materials and equipment for health science labs, both for individual stations and for instructional demonstration. Operates laboratory equipment, including computer-interfaced instruments. Assists instructors during laboratory sessions, as appropriate.
Maintains an inventory of the health science laboratory and instructional equipment and materials. Works with program directors to schedule maintenance and manage warranties of simulators and equipment. Performs minor repairs of equipment. Cleans and maintains health science laboratories. Prepares purchase orders and receives shipments for the health science programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree
One (1) year work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree
One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Effective time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, stay organized and be detail oriented. Ability to innovate and initiate continuous improvement processes for programs within the department. Ability to remain flexible and effective in unanticipated situations and/or under changing conditions. General knowledge of common health care programs and professional roles. Ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of the role. Willingness to learn and expand technical skills to support routine troubleshooting and maintenance of instructional equipment.
