JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

REPORTS TO: Principalof high school

DEPARTMENT NAME: Careerand Technical Education (CTE)

JOB SUMMARY: To teach secondary level students in one ormore Career and Technical Education (CTE) subjects. Incorporates currentknowledge of industry practices and trends.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Employeesmay be assigned additional duties by management as required:

Job Responsibility 1:

Develops and presents specific lesson plans, using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and library resources, computers, and the Internet. Prepares assignments and assessments for in-school preparation and homework. Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student performances. Conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and state law.

Job Responsibility 2:

Maintains order in classroom, and, in conjunction with administrative staff, administers discipline when necessary to achieve proper behavior. May prescribe extra assignments or detention in cases of student misconduct.

Job Responsibility 3:

Shares, with other teachers and aides, responsibility for monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchroom. Counsels students when academic difficulties or behavioral problems arise.

Job Responsibility 4:

Keeps records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation. Reports on all aspects of student development for school records and parents; conducts parent-teacher conferences on both a regularly scheduled and as-needed basis.

Job Responsibility 5:

Consults with other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learning disabilities, drug or alcohol abuse, or problems of social adjustment. Coordinates decisions with parents concerning any specialized intervention that appears warranted.

Job Responsibility 6:

Works with guidance counselor in helping student to select course of study or college. Recommends promotion and/or placement of students in appropriate classroom situation for ensuing year.

Job Responsibility 7:

Performs related duties, such as sponsoring a student organization or activity.

Job Responsibility 8:

Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.

MATHEMATICALREQUIREMENTS: "Mathematics" deals withquantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by theuse of numbers and symbols.

Usesaddition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates,and percentages.

COMMUNICATIONSREQUIREMENTS: "Communications" involvesthe ability to read, write, and speak.

Readsjournals and manuals; composes specialized reports and business letters usingproper format and grammar; speaks to groups of coworkers and people outside theorganization.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK:"Complexity of Work" addresses the analysis, initiative,ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and thepresence of any unusual pressures.

Performswork involving the application of logical principles and thinking to solvepractical problems within or applying to a unit or division of theorganization; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results andfrequent exposure to unusual pressure.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS: "Impact of Decisions"refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property,exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals.

Makesdecisions with serious impact - affects most units in organization, and mayaffect citizens.

EQUIPMENT USAGE:"EquipmentUsage" refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines,tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physicalcharacteristics.

Establishesmethods and procedures for acquiring and handling machines, tools, equipment,or work aids involving extensive latitude for judgment regarding attainment ofstandard or in selecting appropriate items.

SAFETY OF OTHERS: "Safety of Others" refersto the responsibility for other people's safety, either inherent in the job orto assure the safety of the general public.

Requiresno responsibility for the safety and health of others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:"Education Requirements" refers to job specific training andeducation required for entry into the position.

MinimumAssociate's Degree in Allied Health Area

LICENSES,CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: "Licenses,Certifications, and Registrations" refers to professional, state, or federallicenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.

Musthold a current allied health certification (example register nursing,dietician, physical therapist). Must maintain certification in CPR (providerand instructor).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:"Experience Requirements" refers to the amount of workexperience that is required for entry into the position that would result inreasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by theposition.

Minimumof one years' experience performing allied health-licensed clinical work.

Morespecific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included inthe position announcement as vacancies occur.
