Oversee and manage Austin labs accreditation process
Oversee and manage Austin labs proficiency program
Oversee and manager all laboratory testing
Document work performed by number of tests or time spent, as appropriate
Communicate test results to client when required
Provide support on engineering projects as directed
Assist other personnel at the direction of the Department Manager
Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner
Maintain all lab equipment and calibrations
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
Perform work related to achieving annual plan goals and objectives as directed by Department Manager.
Provide technical consultation as a subject matter expert on projects as needed.
Provide technical approach information for opportunity pursuits.
Participate in opportunity interviews related to areas of expertise as requested.
Provide technical training to junior staff.
Perform direct project work and quality reviews of technical reports.
Provide a safe, clean workplace.
In the case of temporary absence or staff turnover produce results expected of project engineers as needed.
Resolve project and client issues fairly and in accordance with company policy.
Perform standard and advance lab testing
Provide technical training to staff as needed

Required Skills & Experience

Additional Key Expectations:
Responsible for making sure that all laboratory work performed meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set forth in the quality manual and the test procedure.
Responsible for making sure that laboratory has the appropriate resources in place to execute testing per applicable standards. This includes but is not limited to acquiring and maintaining equipment, cross training, preparing and reviewing lab reports, client coordination, resolving conflicts, coordination with other departments and administrative requirements.

Preferred Key Criteria/Requirements:

Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Good skills in math and communications.
Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples up to 50lbs as a routine part of the job.
Has the ability to self-supervise and manage multiple employees (laboratory staff)
10+ years Construction Materials or Geotechnical Testing experience with min 5 years experience as Laboratory Manager or Supervisor.
Must possess or ability to obtain within six month all relevant TXDOT certification including but not limited to SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, AGG101, level 2, ACI Strength, ACI Field, Level 1A.
Advanced Geotechnical testing such as CUs, UUs, Tri-axials is a plus
Ability to work overtime hours
Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
Ability to use a computer and familiar with Microsoft environment (advance levels a plus)
Ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to meet the expectation of working 45 hours a week to accomplish job responsibilities.
