Job Summary:
This is an Open Rank Laboratory Science position that will support the laboratory of Jessica Nelson at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
The Pearson Lab is looking for an enthusiastic research assistant to join our vibrant research lab focused on the assembly and function of centrosomes and cilia. Candidates will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the laboratory as well as performing experiments. Candidates should have experience with microscopy (light and/or electron) and molecular biology (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, Western Blot, IHC, cloning). The Pearson Lab studies centrioles, centrosomes, and cilia. We have several on-going projects: 1) Centrosome and cilia defects in Down syndrome, 2) RNA metabolism in the control of centriole duplication, 3) Centrioles and cell size control, 4) Centriole assembly and stability in response to mechanical forces from motile cilia. The professional will be a member of the Dept. of Cell & Developmental Biology.

- Isolate DNA and utilize PCR for genotyping.
- Prepare lab for daily operations including inventory, stocking materials, maintenance, and calibration of equipment, making of common reagents.
- Perform experiments and analyze data.
- Tissue cell cultures.
- Image acquisition and quantitative image analysis.
- Attend weekly lab meetings to present, discuss, and troubleshoot data.
- Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.

- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
