Laboratory Technical Assistant - Chemistry (Evenings)

Under the general direction of the Department of Pathology/Laboratory Director and Chemistry Supervisor, this position handles the receiving, processing, routing, and storage of specimens. It also provides support for various laboratory tasks within the specimen processing area, contributing to the Clinical Pathology team's objectives.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Monitor and retrieve specimens from the pneumatic tube system.
  • Ensure accurate routing, centrifugation, and aliquoting of specimens.
  • Process electronic orders and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Transport, pack, and ship specimens and supplies across the campus.
  • Handle phone calls, maintain inventory, and perform clerical tasks.
  • Ensure cleanliness and adherence to safety practices in work areas.
  • Adhere to laboratory practices and safety procedures for chemical and biological hazards.
  • Comply with CAP, CALOSHA, CMS, and other regulatory requirements.




Your qualifications should include:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Up to one-year experience in a hospital laboratory setting preferred, working with clinical laboratory specimens and staff
  • Post High School Vocational / Specialized Training
