As a Laboratory Technician you will have the opportunity to:
- Follow procedural standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform daily operations such as glassware washing, and equipment checks on deionized (DI) water systems and other laboratory equipment to ensure a sufficient stock of clean glassware and equipment are available for use in analytical testing
- Prepare, review and update SOPs and templates to document changes in operations
- Troubleshoot problems in the operations and oversees the repair of equipment
- Maintain and update inventories of equipment, chemicals, supplies, and lab coats in the laboratory
- Follow and perform the functions as specified in the sample management standard operating procedure to receive samples from DTSC program staff and external clients, log in samples into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), maintain the chain of custody for samples, store samples upon completion of analysis and dispose of samples when approved by requestors
- One semester or more of a Chemistry course or closely related field
- Six months or more of experience working in a laboratory
- Experience with making solutions in a laboratory
