This individual is expected to support the research on viral vaccines and therapeutics using gnotobiotic (Gn) pig models and will be mostly involved in daily collection of rectal/nasal swab samples from Gn pigs, process swab, blood and intestinal content samples; assistant in preparing and administering various inoculums to Gn pigs; perform euthanasia of Gn pigs, and processes tissue samples and isolates mononuclear cells from lymphoid tissues of necropsied Gn pigs during animal experiments. This person is also responsible in performing daily data entry to Gn pig sample logbooks and/or databases, and compile sample and animal lists for each research project according to specific instructions from the principal investigator. This person is also expected to perform the daily housekeeping of the laboratories.

Required Qualifications

This person must be highly organized and assume responsibility, flexibility and versatility to be able to work on different laboratory duties and work with different personalities; have excellent data entry, management and record keeping skill and experience; and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient with MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint software.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with Gn pigs; working in a BSL-2 laboratory; and handling biological samples from animals or humans.
