The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Lead Family Services Specialist II to support the Child Protective Services (CPS) program.

What You Do and How You Do it:
You may provide case management to a small caseload. You will orient new staff, supervise the team in the absence of the supervisor, provide placement coordination, ensure data compliance, and provide support to staff. You will supervise support staff. You will assist in planning and developing policies and procedures and evaluating service effectiveness as well as apply knowledge of Virginia policies in children's services in CPS and stay up to date as things change. You will provide on-call supervision to staff and represent the department on the Family Assessment Planning Team (FAPT). You will prepare closed cases that are set for appeal at the local, regional, and state level. You will review court reports completed by staff and attend training designed for professional growth and enhancing job performance. Perform other work as required.

You will need a bachelor's degree in social work or in the human services field; two years of experience in human services required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. We prefer a master's degree in social work. Three years minimum of Child Protective Services experience is desired.

Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.

You will work outside of normal business hours which includes providing on-call supervision for emergencies 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
