Description
The Online and Distance Education Learning and Technology Support Specialist is responsible for assisting the Instructional Technology staff with providing institutional support for the use of Canvas and other educational technologies; and assisting the Learning Experience staff with the design, development, implementation, and management of asynchronous online courses for Husson University's Online Division. The Learning and Technology Support Specialist works with a broad and growing array of technology tools and has a deep understanding of learning processes to guide for all aspects of the student's learning experience for Husson Online. The Learning and Technology Support Specialist will collaborate with stakeholders to integrate current educational technologies that enhance pedagogical quality. The position promotes and leverages data-informed decisions to create effective asynchronous teaching strategies. Additionally, The Learning and Technology Support Specialist will support both faculty using new technologies. The Learning and Technology Support Specialist works closely with the Instructional Technology and Learning Experience staff. The position may qualify for remote work
Examples of Duties
Education: Master's degree required. Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or Education preferred.
Experience: One to three years relevant experience working as an instructional technologist or instructional designer.

Examples of Duties
- Remain current and have a thorough understanding of the latest industry technology tools and trends in online education.
- Work closely with Instructional Technology staff to deliver quality support to faculty and staff, develop new services, and test new academic and learning technologies.
- Assist in the selection of new educational technologies and resources.
- Evaluate the efficacy of technologies and make data-informed recommendations to leadership and staff.
- Produce training and support materials for faculty, staff, and students on educational technologies.
- Maintain and update the LMS, and assist with overall technology maintenance, in coordination with Instructional Technology staff.
- Assist faculty, staff, leadership, and subject matter experts in navigating the Canvas learning management system, in coordination with Instructional Technology staff.
- Act as an expert resource and person of contact for our Canvas learning management system and other educational technologies.
- Apply appropriate learning theories to course design and implementation.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts, faculty, and staff to design and develop high quality, innovative online courses.
- Apply flexibility, understanding, and support to complicated course designs with multiple stakeholders.
- Design online content in Canvas and integrate current educational technologies to improve student-learning experiences.
- Facilitate and coordinate administrative aspects of course development, delivery, and support.
- Evaluate course quality following best practices.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Education: Master's degree required. Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or Education preferred.
Experience: One to three years relevant experience working as an instructional technologist or instructional designer.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic HTML, CSS, and web development.
- Experience in leading and managing multiple, complex projects, and the ability to schedule, prioritize and meet varied deadlines across these projects.
- Experience successfully working collaboratively on a project with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong research, content analysis, and content preparation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, while working with diverse content and populations.
- Proven ability to stay current with rapidly changing technologies.
- Proven knowledge of instructional design or instructional technology strategies, along with the current techniques, tools, and procedures used in those fields.
- Familiarity with Universal Design and other accessibility principles to ensure course content is accessible to all learners.
- Proven ability to work effectively and communicate with faculty, subject matter experts, colleagues, leadership, users, and media developers.
- Demonstrated competence in working with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
Remote Work Optional:
- Husson University will provide a laptop and one monitor with docking station. Other work station furniture and equipment shall be provided by the employee.
- Employee must arrange an appropriate and safe work space at their work location that ensures their productivity and the security of University information.
