The University of Southern Maine's School of Nursing invites applications for one (1) full-time faculty appointment at the rank of lecturer for our Fall 2024 Semester. This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility of flexible semesters (spring/summer or fall/summer).  The School of Nursing is the largest nursing program in the University of Maine System with an enrollment of over 400 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The school grants baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral (DNP) degrees, and is housed within the College of Science, Technology and Health . Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center and a new $1.5 M advanced high-fidelity interprofessional simulation center.

Required responsibilities include teaching and service. The successful candidate must be able to teach across the undergraduate curricula within their area of expertise. Teaching schedules are flexible with classes taught during a variety of times and days and utilizing various delivery methods including face-to-face and hybrid online formats. Nursing classes are taught predominantly on the Portland and Lewiston campuses. Faculty participate in service activities related to the department, college, university, professional organizations, and community.

This position will pay a salary of $60,000 annually.  New faculty receive release time for a robust University wide orientation in their first semester. Ongoing support includes: a faculty mentorship program, professional development, and available support for use of technology.

The candidate will contribute to the University's research portfolio with a willingness to mentor junior faculty, work collaboratively within the Osher School of Music and across disciplines. We require a candidate who displays a commitment to the principles of community, creativity, and collaboration; consistently program works by underrepresented composers and living composers, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion goals of the Osher School of Music; and perform service to the Osher School of Music and University by serving on committees and other duties as assigned. In addition, the candidate will foster relationships within the University and the external community. This role also maintains and builds relationships with vocal and choral teachers in the region; actively participates in choral/vocal professional organizations; and serves as an innovative scholar, artist, and leader in choral music, committed to increasing equity in, and access to, choral music for all learners.

Qualifications:

  • A completed graduate degree in nursing and registered nurse in Maine or eligible for RN licensure in Maine
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialty focus in mental health, reproductive health, and/or ability to teach across the curriculum. 
  • Prior teaching experience
