This position will play a critical role in the Delta Stewardship Council's Legal Division. The Legal Assistant will assist Council attorneys in the Council's covered action appeal process and civil litigation. Additionally, this position will assist the Council in the promulgation of regulations required to carry out its statutory mission. The work includes a broad range of routine legal services, related to public policy, CEQA, regulations and administrative law.
We're located in the new state of the art Natural Resources Building in downtown Sacramento. Our building features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, call and conference rooms, adjacent childcare, and much more.
Working Conditions
This position is being considered for hybrid telework (with a 2-day per week minimum in office schedule) under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. The position is based out of the Council's headquarters, located at 715 P Steet, Sacramento, CA, 95814.

Department Information The Delta Reform Act of 2009 created the Delta Stewardship Council (Council). The mission of the Council is to achieve the coequal goals of "...providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting restoring and enhancing the Delta ecosystem... in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place" (CA Water Code SS 85054). To do this, the Council developed the Delta Plan, which is an enforceable long-term sustainable management plan for the Delta to ensure coordinated action at the federal, state, and local levels.

- Knowledge of basic legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures.
- Ability to reason logically and accurately analyze situations; read effectively; prepare reports; read and understand statutes; prepare drafts of legal documents and correspondence; and work cooperatively with attorneys.
