Linux Specialist, Endpoint Squad Intro
The endpoint team is responsible for maintaining all corporate images, developing common software deployment packages, and deploying standard software and software updates, ensuring the North America endpoints are properly patched and updated. The Linux Support Specialist will be a part of the NORAM Endpoint Team and will act as a subject matter expert with images and software deployment packages associated with the LINUX endpoints that are deployed to the Engineering Teams across North America.

Linux Specialist, Endpoint Squad Job Details
The Linux Support Specialist will be a part of the NORAM Endpoint Team. The specialist's core responsibilities will be as follows:
- Provide IT systems desktop administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows, Redhat, Ubuntu Linux environment.
- Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04
- Redhat 7-9
- Windows 10 and 11
- Train Service Desk technicians on Linux-related troubleshooting/operational procedures.
- Mentor and assist both our US and Canada NORAM Endpoint team members on the essential functions listed below:
- System Administration of Ubuntu and Redhat OS
- Testing and Troubleshooting Linux Workstations
- Installation and Upgrades of workstations
- Linux shell scripting
- Creating Linux OS images
- Day-to-Day expected tasks as part of the NORAM Endpoint Team:
- Respond and resolve both incidents and service request tickets assigned to the NORAM Endpoint Squad in Service Now
- Execute work that is assigned during sprint planning and update Tasks as needed.
- Create Knowledge Base Articles in Service Now
- Attend Stand Up Meetings
- Maintain health of Endpoints by using remote tools SCCM, Trellix, and Endpoint Central
- Driver Updates
- Software Updates
- Software deployments
- Other duties as required by Endpoint Service Owner, Director of End User Support, and Collaboration Services.

Linux Specialist, Endpoint Squad Mandatory Skills
- At least 3 years of experience as a Linux Desktop support engineer or specialist
- Experienced with Linux OS (RedHat 7-9 and Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04)
- Experienced with Microsoft Windows 10 (20H2 or higher)
- Experience with software installations on local machines
- Knowledge of computer software, operating systems, hardware, and networking
- Knowledge of PC Imaging
- Hands-on experience with Puppet for configuration management, ensuring efficient and consistent workstation setups.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with network services, including PXE, DNS, and DHCP, essential for network configuration and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with Foreman or experience in bare-metal provisioning using PXE, including familiarity with preseed, auto install, and Kickstart methods for automated system deployments.
- Familiarity with scripting or basic knowledge of at least one systems programming language (such as Bash, Python, or Perl).
- Working, functional knowledge of Bitbucket
- Detailed oriented and able to work on own initiative
- Able to carry out multiple, concurrent assignments
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to create and manage technical documentation

Linux Specialist, Endpoint Squad Desired Skills
- Experience with desktop support for engineering teams
- Basic knowledge of Windows OS (30% importance)
- Experience mentoring and training team members
- Knowledge of remote tools like SCCM, Trellix, and Endpoint Central

Linux Specialist, Endpoint Squad Location
This position is Onsite and located in Irvine, California, United States. The role will be hybrid once fully trained, with initial onsite training required.
