Summary

• Under the direction of the department manager and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care for assigned patients. Performs care, treatments, and procedures within scope of practice and established guidelines and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtains information for assigned patients during bedside report, or hand off communication to/from another department. • Implements patient care instructions per physician orders. • Consults with and keeps Registered Nurse informed of activities, symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition with regard to assigned patients. • Administers medication within scope of practice and established policies. Maintain the MAR (Medication Administration Record). Observes and documents patient reactions to medications to determine efficacy/side effects. • Provides prescribed education to patient and family members related to health, treatments and medications. • Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs. Documents all aspects of patient care. • Provides appropriate pain management techniques and instructs the patient and family regarding pain management. • Performs patient hygiene duties as needed. • Completes and documents a patient assessment each shift. • Performs nursing procedures and patient care per policy and procedure. • Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring of patients. • Assists with maintenance of unit safety. • Assists with training/orienting new staff. • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Required o Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada. o Current BLS/CPR for healthcare providers. o Basic computer skills for:  Accessing and navigating CTRH intranet for forms, policies, and procedures.  Accessing and entering data on organization wide software such as timekeeping system and hospital email.  Accessing and using internet and specific applications required to perform job duties. Preferred o Three (3) years of LPN experience in an acute care hospital.
