Minimum Qualifications

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree, plus 5+ years of relevant experience in a technology transfer program within an industry or academia setting. Demonstrated ability to manage a large project portfolio.

Position Summary

The University of Georgia seeks an innovative Licensing Pipeline Program Manager who will monitor and help advance the robust pipeline of inventions arising from UGA's research enterprise. This position is within Innovation Gateway, UGA's commercialization program in the Office of Research, which encompasses the University's intellectual property licensing and startup support functions to ensure that research discoveries reach their full potential for public benefit. The successful incumbent will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who is ready to assume a prominent role within a successful technology transfer office.

  • Proven organizational skills needed to manage a fast-paced workflow, effectively prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

  • Customer service-oriented self-starter
  • Ability to function as member of a varying, dynamic team

Proactively monitor and help advance the pipeline of arising from UGA's research enterprise.
  • Review/accept new invention disclosures
  • Coordinate with inventors to obtain additional information as needed to facilitate robust evaluation of disclosures
  • Track status of, and facilitate, invention review to ensure timely progression
  • Explore opportunities to enhance invention evaluation process
  • Support federal invention reporting activities

Support efficient progression of inventions by identifying, evaluating, and leveraging opportunities to bring UGA intellectual property to the market.
  • Conduct market landscape analysis
  • Identify licensing leads/contacts
  • Manage online technology summary database
  • Compile marketing books, sheets, and other materials for Innovation Gateway technology portfolios
  • Assist Research Communications in social media marketing campaigns to promote technologies available for licensing
  • Explore opportunities to enhance marketing process

Monitor licensing agreement status to ensure timely progression of negotiation and execution of agreements.
  • Track/report status of licensing agreements in coordination with licensing team
  • Maintain licensing agreement templates, update as needed by coordinating with UGARF legal counsel

Assist licensing team in increasing the invention disclosure pipeline
  • Identify and evaluate new and emerging technologies, ideas, or concepts that could lead to disclosures
  • Review outgoing material transfer agreements for new inventions
  • Help coordinate departmental/school outreach activities
  • Assist licensing team in outreach technology scouting
