The Workplace Safety Team has an opening for a Loss Control Specialist in Sacramento, Vacaville, Pleasanton, Stockton, or Fresno.

Risk Management oversees a variety of functions including Workplace Safety, Return to Work, Business Continuity, Enterprise Risk Management, and Enterprise Insurance. The Workplace Safety Team spearheads the organization's workplace safety efforts that include the Injury & Illness Prevention Plan, the Ergonomic Program, and Safety Committees.

This position is responsible for a wide variety of consultative and analytical assignments including: supporting the development and implementation of the Ergonomics Program; and ensuring compliance with state and federal workplace health and safety regulations.

This posting is for the Senior Workers' Compensation Insurance Representative (Sr.WCIR) classification - under fill in the Workers' Compensation Insurance Representative (WCIR) classification may also be considered.

Job Description and Duties

- Provide safety and health services to programs/accounts with operations that present risk conditions of high complexity and difficulty
- Contact assigned programs/accounts on a yearly basis to evaluate the safety needs of high-level risks
- Conduct site visits to each location; evaluate workplace hazards and the safety and health competence of assigned location
- Manage Injury and Illness Prevention Program compliance at each location providing subsequent consultative visits to ensure recommendations are implemented
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide recommendations
- Conduct comprehensive accident/incident Investigations to determine root cause
- Serve as a technical resource and serve as the liaison for enterprise loss prevention activities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety training for stakeholders
- Develop and maintain professional competencies by adhering to training and remaining current in the areas of:
- Occupational Safety and Health
- Risk Management principles
- Document all Loss Control services provided and other appropriate information with factual and objective information in a timely manner, according to Risk Management Procedures

• Ability to conduct trainings in front of management and staff.
• Working knowledge of Risk Management and Workplace Safety.
• Understanding of completed staff work.

Travel may be required for training and work assignments.

New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
