Maintenance Assistant I

General Statement of Duties

This vacancy is for a full-time Maintenance Assistant I. Posting is open until filled.
Minimum annual salary is $32,841.37 ($15.79/hour) or based on HCPS internal promotion policy if applicable. (School-year hours: M-F 6-2:30pm; Summer Hours: M-Th 6-4:00pm )

Essential Duties

• Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property
• Assists in the cleaning, repairing, replacing parts of electrical and wiring devices, heating controls, boilers, plumbing lines and fixtures
• Assists in assigned painting projects
• Assists in repairing, altering or building furniture, glass replacement, carpeting, tile, gutters, roofing and fences
• Performs ground maintenance: mowing, snow-ice removal
• Operates maintenance tools and equipment
• Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards
• Attends work daily and is engaged and on task
• Performs overtime work and other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or trade school. Some knowledge of general maintenance tools and their use; ability to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks with minimum instruction and supervision. Must have valid Virginia Drivers' License and be in good physical condition.

This vacancy is for a full-time Maintenance Assistant I. Posting is open until filled. Salary is based on 2023-24Sy, minimum salary is $32,841.37 ($15.79 hourly). Work hours are 6:00 - 2:30 M-F during the school year; 6:00 - 4:00 M-TH summer hours
