Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the meat processing facility. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring equipment reliability, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintenance Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment operates efficiently.
    • Coordinate with production managers to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  2. Team Leadership:
    • Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  3. Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
    • Ensure all machinery, refrigeration units, and facility infrastructure are maintained and in good working order.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and coordinate repairs.
    • Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
    • Implement and monitor safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  5. Budget Management:
    • Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget.
    • Track maintenance expenses and optimize costs without compromising on quality.
  6. Vendor and Contractor Management:
    • Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance services.
    • Negotiate contracts and manage service agreements.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
    • Implement best practices in maintenance management.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., Maintenance Management Professional, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management within a food processing or manufacturing environment, preferably in the meat industry.
    • Proven track record in managing maintenance teams and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Proficient in using maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS).
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
