Come and join our CDFW team! Travel using State provided transportation to multiple Northern Region hatcheries, wildlife areas and facilities in Del Norte, Humboldt, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity Counties. The incumbent will perform skilled work to complete alterations and repairs for buildings, mechanical systems, equipment, vehicles and grounds, along with some deferred maintenance and inspections.

Perform minor facilities modifications including electrical, minor carpentry, welding, fabrication, plumbing, painting, concrete and general construction work on the facilities; obtain estimates and prepare requisitions for necessary materials and supplies, inventory tools and keep them in good working order; maintain certification for operating a forklift and scissor lift.

This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions
Work outdoors in all types of weather, climb ladders, operate a variety of tools and equipment; perform heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, heavy lifting, standing, squatting, sitting, standing and may need to lift 40 pounds. Must obtain a forklift operator certification, which is provided with State training, possession of a valid Class C Driver's License. Must wear a prescribed uniform when engaging with the public, conducting field work, in the office and on-site visits. The use of personal protective equipment is required (e.g., eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) to perform aspects of the essential job functions previously described in a safe manner. The incumbent is required to use respiratory protection equipment as needed per Cal/OSHA requirements. As such, Cal/OSHA requires that the incumbent be annually medically cleared to be fit-tested for respiratory protection equipment.
