Position Description: The Oilwell Services and Offshore Operations of the company are Union facilities and environments, so coming into the company as a maintenance professional will be both challenging and rewarding. Unless you have steel industry manufacturing experience, you must be capable of moving into an environment where you have the least product knowledge and industry experience yet are the responsible maintenance technician who must produce quality results to keep production rolling. You will be working with a group of experienced steel workers along the path to high productivity and excellence, while mastering the overall aspects of the steel business at the front-line maintenance level. Due to the nature of the business, the facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Therefore, this position?may require work outside of normal hours during plant shutdown and any unplanned/unforeseen outages.
Maintenance Technician - as an Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair to facility and production equipment within different areas of the mill. You will be part of the Steel Workers Union workforce that has a tremendous relationship with management throughout the mill. Candidates must have strong troubleshooting and repair skills, and should have experience with the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical or mechanical systems within industrial equipment, facilities, automated systems, and other mechanical/engineering systems. Mechanical systems include hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, power transmission systems, conveyors, compressors, pumps, cranes, piping, structural, and mobile equipment. Electrical systems include motors, controls, motor controls, PLCs, MCCs, AC/DC systems, electrical schematics, analog electronics, AC/DC electrical drives, power conversion, instrumentation, and computer hardware. Ideal candidates will have good mechanical and electronic troubleshooting skills and be creative problem solvers.
Operators (Production/Heavy Equipment) - in this role you will safely operate production line and mobile equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment to support production line and material handling objectives. You will load and unload trucks, identify correct materials, quantities, and rack locations, and perform basic preventative maintenance inspections of forklifts and equipment for safe operational use.
Requirements: Candidates must have a high-school diploma or GED. Candidates must have the maintenance experience outlined in the position description above in the military, or in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Candidates must have outstanding safety record and good general understanding of maintenance operations. This is a very industrial, blue-collar environment that requires a keen eye for safety. Candidates must pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test as the company has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol for safe steelmaking operations.
