Summary:

Supports departmental goal of providing Johns Hopkins Health System's executive decision-makers with change-based, project-oriented analyses performed on an as-needed basis to diagnose the reason for an unexpected trend or to evaluate the impact of a proposed alternative approach to business operations. Position would play a key role in developing and implementing the following departmental activities in support of functional business unit decision-making: 1) Meet with JHM management personnel to determine scope and purpose of projects; 2) Represent JHM in negotiations with outside entities; 3) Involvement in the development of JHM-wide financial systems and applications; 4) Assist project managers in developing strategies and formats for new projects; 5) Train financial analysis staff, administrative fellows, interns and residents in data extraction and analytical techniques; 6) Review business plans and other studies for accuracy and completeness before publication; 7) Develop new systems and methodologies for unit members to extract and analyze data; 8) Long- range/business planning process and guidelines; 9) Business unit financial model and forecast development; 10) Program/product development analysis; 11) New venture evaluation; 12) Pricing structure strategy and change assessment; and 13) Business entity evaluations.. Actively participates in strategic discussions re. physician, hospital, and ancillary company rate negotiations. Evaluates and provide key input into the determination of financial strategy for payer proposals in collaboration with Managed Care leadership to ensure Managed Care goals are supported. Develops reimbursement forecasts and monitors contract performance. Supports analytics for system-wide projects and workgroups.

Education:

Undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business Administration or related field required and Master's degree MBA, MHS or other graduate degree with a health care or information systems concentration preferred and Knowledge of healthcare delivery settings, clinical data management, and health care insurance required.

Work Experience:

Significant industry experience in hospital, physician group practice, managed care organization or consulting firm setting. Over 10 years Healthcare Finance experience, 5 in a management position and at least 5 of which were in an analytical role.
