The Fisher College of Science and Mathematics STEM Program Director will supervise the Towson Opportunities in STEM (TOPS) program, will coordinate programing for the STEM Residential Learning Community (RLC) and provide support for the Bridges to Bac and Bridges to Doc Programs. The Director will also be responsible for advising and providing career guidance to students in the TOPS program and the STEM RLC.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Direct, manage and advance the TOPS program. Lead recruitment and selection of students, oversight of budget, and assessment of the program. Create and organize events to promote student success. Organize the Summer Experience to help students transition from high school to college. Serve as a First Year Experience advisor for all TOPS students. Manage and expand the peer mentoring program for students in the TOPS program.
  • Recruit students to live in the STEM RLC. Teach the first-year seminar on "Career Exploration in STEM" for STEM RLC students. Coordinate programming and organize events for the STEM Residential Learning Community. Recruit and train mentors for the STEM RLC. Assess the STEM RLC program.
  • Collaborate with the TU Career Center to provide students with in-person and virtual career opportunities and resources. Organize and accompany students to an annual STEM Career Conference where students attend workshops and interact with potential employers or internship hosts.
  • Participate on committees at Towson University that are focused on improving student success. Collaborate with campus partners and other programs to support recruitment efforts and improve student retention and graduation rates.
  • Supervise a graduate student assistant whose responsibilities include student data collection, mentoring, and event planning.
  • Provide general support for the Bridges to Bac and Bridges to Doc programs.


Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of experience working in higher education.
  • Excellent communication and event planning skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, determine priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with college student advising and mentoring.


Preferred:

  • B.S. degree in a field of science, mathematics or education.
  • A graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in science, mathematics or education.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.


Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is 80,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
