Job Summary/Overview

The Manager, Accounting Assists the Controller with analysis, preparation, and reporting of company financial data, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis. Participates and supports Continuous Improvement Initiatives. The Manager, Accounting is responsible for the Cycle Count Program including supervision of cycle counters and compliance with all related policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compile periodic reports from information calculated or obtained from the CMCO Business System. Including but not limited to shipments, productivity, and departmental expenses.
• Performs daily, monthly, and annual accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions in compliance with company policies.
• Performs analysis of financial data as assigned and reviews with Controller.
• Reviews cost reports prepared by Cost Accountant. Communicates trends to Controller. Works with Cost Accountant, Controller and Product Management to resolve.
• Prepare wire transfers and intercompany payables transactions.
• Responsible for maintaining fixed assets and reconciliation to ledger.
• Collaborate with monthly forecast, annual operating plan and year end close and reporting.
• Oversees monthly and annual SOX documentation requirements. Insures complete reviews and compliance.
• Responsible for inventory cycle counting program. Maintains compliance with policies including count assignments, count requirements, and documentation. Supports quarterly internal/external audits of the process. Provides supporting documentation as required. Monitors and reports accuracy and tracking of required counts to 100% completion.
• Acts as financial representative in Controller's absence or as assigned.
• Assist Controller with supervision of accounting team as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• Experience in standard cost-manufacturing environment.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP, Blackline, SAGE FAS, FCCS-SmartView, and ADP preferred.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Prioritization and multi-tasking skills in a demanding environment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information to management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing company strongly preferred.
