Reporting to the Executive Director, Catto Scholarship, the Research & Analytics Manager will design, implement, and maintain various data related reporting functions for the Catto Scholarship. This position includes but is not limited to writing queries to extract raw data from campus data repositories and ERP system, joining data from diverse sources, manipulating and analyzing data, and supporting a wide variety of requests for information associated with the Catto Scholarship. This position also includes the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards to share throughout the institution as well as external partners in accordance with data sharing agreements. The Research & Analytics Manager will ultimately ensure accurate and timely reporting for stakeholders of the program, which may be operational, outcome-oriented, or ad-hoc related. The role will also include the supervision of a Data Specialist, whose primary function is to support the data-related needs of the program.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Design data systems used for research and analytical purposes for the Catto Scholarship Office, including specialized databases to track Catto interventions, initiatives, outcomes, or other data related solutions.
  • Lead the creation of data related presentations and visualizations to effectively share findings with Catto staff, College leadership, and the Mayor's Office of Education.
  • Create reports on course, student and faculty metrics including enrollment, student headcount and credit hours, admissions, completion rate, student demographics, graduation rates, etc.
  • Write queries to extract data from the Institution's ERP system on an ad hoc basis to resolve data requests.
  • Implement key metrics and procedures to track Catto Cohorts and their progression.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on trends or other relevant outcomes that may occur for Catto Scholars who come from Dual enrollment backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with Catto staff to provide analyses of institutional data to support the operational, decision-making, and planning functions of the Scholarship.
  • Maintain databases & systems of the Catto Scholarship to ensure validity, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Create & manage surveys that pertain to Catto Scholars
  • Create and maintain documentation for reporting procedures.
  • Perform high level research assignments including data retrieval/collection, tracking, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
  • Provide academic research to aid in high-level decision making.
  • Translate user requirements into BI (Business Intelligence) applications including data and metadata models, reports, and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with ITS in building, coding, testing, and maintaining databases and documentation for underlying BI applications.
  • Research and provide new ways of leveraging existing data sets and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Monitor and track progress toward completion of projects and requests.
  • Assign tasks/projects for the Data Analyst and ensure their timely completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Any and all degrees must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in the development of business intelligence solutions and reporting is required.
  • Previous experience using Ellucian Banner, or a similar enterprise-wide system is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database architecture, tables and data sets is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing multiple applications such as SharePoint, dashboards, and website development tools is required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL , and Tableau required.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research and findings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds by effectively using cross-cultural skills and abilities required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in information processing, reporting and/or business application development within higher education is preferred.
  • Experience creating complex SQL queries .
