Objective:
Within the IPT structure, collaborate with Engineering, Tooling, Quality, Operations, Program Management and other departments to ensure the product meets manufacturing requirements and goals and is ready for production when launched. Support of Design for Manufacturability and participation in lean improvement activities are required. Work closely with Industrial Engineering to design and implement process and equipment layouts and improvements. Support Operations through technical support, product design, and quality standards.
Must have strong root cause corrective action skills and be highly energetic. Must have strong personal, statistical, and technical writing skills.

Main Function Responsibilities:

A) New Product Development

i) As a member of an Integrated Program Team, provide support to ensure program is successful and serve as the focal of Tooling, Fabrication, Operations and Manufacturing Planning to ensure the needs of these groups are met and communication is clear
ii) Collaborate with engineering throughout design and development process, capture and document engineering/build problems and work with engineering to solve, support design review process
iii) Ensure designs and build process meet cycle time expectations/goals
iv) Perform PFMEA for general product and specific designs as needed
v) Ensure drawings and designs meet requirements for internal DFM guidelines and continually update these guidelines as required
vi) Work with Manufacturing Planning and Industrial Engineering/ME Planner (VWI) team to ensure routing and instructions for subassemblies and seat assembly are clear and correct and include proper instructions and tools
vii) Prepare for a smooth product launch and support pre-production and production build areas
B) Production Support

Production and Design Improvement
i) Provide technical support related to manufacturing
ii) Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
iii) Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods
iv) Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards
v) Review product design for manufacturability or completeness

Process Improvement
vi) Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations

Process Efficiency
vii) Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures
viii) Purchase equipment, consumable, and non-consumable tools
ix) Train production personnel in new or existing methods
x) Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the manufacturing.

Candidate skills & requirements
Qualification Requirements:

A. Education & Qualification:
• B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g. Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience.

B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge:
• One to three years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred
• Catia V.5 or design modeling a plus

C. Professional Skills:
• Must have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes
• Must be capable of preparing well-written reports and orderly reports
• Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of such fields as product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc.
• Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred, continuation training will be supplied
• Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems
• Able to conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical defects
• Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
• Ability to read and review written communication.
• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
