Responsibilities
This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.
SUMMARY: Plans, designs and constructs manufacturing facilities and related structures. Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources and structural design. Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization , space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
- Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.
- Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment
- Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities
- Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers
- Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline
- Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations
- Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
Education and/or Experience
- Associate's Degree required.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
- Discpline/Major: General Engineering or specialized Engineering degree required.
- 3-5 years prior experience in a relevant function.
- Leadership Skills.
- Oral and Written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Analytical thinking skills. Problem-solving skills.
- Design expertise.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout the GD-OTS facilities.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
- Less than 25% travel likely.
