What you do:This position has full ownership and accountability for market and competitive intelligence relating to the fixed index annuity industry. You will also oversee and manage the development and ongoing support of the Allianz Market Intelligence Resource for all lines of business (Fixed, Variable and Life). You will also spend 15% of your time preparing for and working with the field, educating on the index annuity marketplace, gathering field input for new products, enhancements and services and building this value-added capability for our field partners. In addition to these accountabilities and activities, you will also proactively monitor, research and analyze the marketplace and competitor activities from different sources as well as communicate intelligence on emerging trends, market conditions and the competitive environment. You will be a subject matter expert to support strategic initiatives and will impart knowledge to key stakeholders, such as the SLG, Distribution, Product Innovation and other business partners. Insights provided by the market and competitive analysis, and the close interaction with the field will help direct product development, strategic planning and decision making. You will report to the Sr. Director of Actuary.

  • Oversee the market and competitive intelligence function for the fixed index annuity line of business
  • Oversee and manage the development and ongoing support of the Allianz Market Intelligence Resource for all lines of business
  • Develop and present competitive intelligence and market trend information to FMOs, BDs, Marketers, Registered Reps and Insurance Agents. This will require travel 10-15% of the time
  • Participate on the product development team(s) and communicate current trends, new competitor products/enhancements and industry data to support product development initiatives
  • Identify key opportunities and risks within the fixed and fixed index marketplace; communicate regularly to executive/senior leadership and other applicable departments
  • Engage with key internal and external personnel to drive fair and unbiased presentation and use of competitive intelligence data
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and comfortably work with cross-functional partners at all levels within the organization
  • Collaborate with product development, sales and marketing teams and support areas to identify and fulfill their market and competitive intelligence needs tosupport strategic planning and decision making efforts. Key responsibilities include:
  • Gathering, assessing, analyzing and disseminating intelligence to assist in strategic planning and product development efforts
  • Maintaining, on an on-going basis, a database for market and competitive intelligence, including competitor profiles detailing their products, product pricing, company strategies, and competitor strengths and weaknesses
  • Provide the various business unit's sales forces with intelligence to keep them updated on competitor activities and to help them position Allianz' products relative to the competition Clear understanding of key business strategies Integrate insights from a variety of sources
  • Respond to ad hoc requests, from multiple business units, for market research, competitive positioning, fact finding, etc.
What you bring:
  • 8-10 years' Experience in the financial services industry and/or competitive intelligence and at gathering, analyzing and interpreting marketplace information
  • Bachelor's degree required in marketing or related field
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communicator: Experience serving on cross-functional teams throughout the organization
