Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing various activities in support of the engineering management function of the organization. Designs and develops major engineering systems. Consults with engineering management, electrical engineering, production, and sales to establish design concepts. Gives technical direction to lower level designers and detailers. Checks other designers work for accuracy and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs quality systems using manufacturing procedures within Mettler Toledo's guidelines while maintaining the schedule
  • Designs systems based on design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, production costs, and client specifications
  • Work with production and vendors to understand process capabilities and develop ideas that reduce costs and improve quality
  • Acts as a mentor and leader to the other designers
  • Maintains highest achievable 5S ratings throughout all areas of responsibility
  • Always considers the company Green Initiative when planning activities, procuring supplies or disposing of materials or other assets

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Requires a tactful and diplomatic personality.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Self starter (can work without supervision)
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Experience dealing with all types of people


Minimum Education / Experience Required:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred or a Technical degree with a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience
  • Experience in automated machinery design in a manufacturing environment
  • Drafting Skills
  • Autodesk Inventor
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Material handling experience in the food industry
