Conducts routine tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and performs related duties following established standards and practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collects statistical data, cost analysis, and daily tallies for reports.
  • Consults with supervisor, pathologist regarding difficult analysis or abnormal findings.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Maintains inventory supply, stocks and maintains neat, orderly work area.
  • May perform specimen procurement as required.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education
    • Associate's degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program required or
    • 60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology, required or
    • 60 semester hrs including 24 hrs of science that includes 6 hrs chemistry, 6 hrs biology and 12 hrs chemistry, biology, required or
    • or medical lab tech in any combination plus laboratory training that includes either completion of a clinical lab training program required or
    • 3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed. required

    Experience
    • Prior work experience not required

    Licenses and Certifications
    • ASCP - Medical Technologist ASCP certification preferred.\r preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.

    This position has a hiring range of $25.35 - $42.23
