Network Engineer

Position Overview:

We are looking for a proactive Network Engineer to join our technology team, responsible for planning, deploying, and supporting enterprise data and media networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in network and security engineering, playing a crucial role in enhancing our network infrastructure. As a Network Engineer, you will design, deliver, and manage essential connectivity services, working closely with colleagues, management, vendors, and project managers.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, and deploy local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Implement and support network monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and reporting using various tools.
  • Develop and support wireless, video conferencing, and IP-based voice solutions.
  • Implement network security best practices using technologies such as VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Configure networking devices to ensure quality of service in audio/video over IP networks.
  • Stay informed about industry trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve network performance issues, employing scripting skills in languages like PowerShell or Python for automation.
  • Maintain configuration management and documentation standards.
  • Provide tier 2 support for network-related issues and produce necessary documentation for system transitions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in planning, designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise networks.
  • Proficiency with routing protocols (e.g., IGMP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs).
  • Significant experience in network security, including firewalls and VPNs.
  • Familiarity with wireless technology standards.
  • Experience with cloud service providers is a plus.
  • Relevant IP networking certification is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with protocols such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, and both IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Experience with IP multicast and Ethernet switching/routing technologies.
  • Knowledge of network management protocols.
  • Experience with application and load balancing technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud networking and automation/scripting capabilities.
