What You'll Do

Avalara is looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer with experience networking in cloud environments to join our team. You will ensure the security of our network infrastructure, with a focus on cloud environments. #LI-remote

You will:
  • Assist our Vulnerability Threat Management (VTM) Program to ensure that all network devices are being scanned regularly.
  • Be a valued consultant to help review rules and policies to ensure security before being deployed.
  • Configure and manage network security controls in cloud environments, including Virtual Private Clouds, security groups, and network access control lists.
  • Advise in ongoing security projects to ensure that network security is being considered.
  • Assist Cloud Security team in identifying and resolving network related issues in multiple cloud environments.
  • Help validate security settings in AWS WAF.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date network documentation.
  • Compile and track network security metrics to help Identify risks across the organization, while prioritizing each.

Job Duties

Configure and manage network security controls in cloud environments, including Virtual Private Clouds, security groups, and network access control lists.

Advise in ongoing security projects to ensure that network security is being considered.

Assist Cloud Security team in identifying and resolving network related issues in multiple cloud environments.

Assist in configuration and validating security settings in AWS WAF.

Maintain accurate and up to date network documentation.

Compile and track network security metrics to help identify and prioritize risks across the organization.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 3+ years of experience supporting a VTM Program from a Network perspective.
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining firewall policies, rules, and configurations
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud network methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience with either Akamai or AWS WAF technologies is a bonus!
  • 3+ years of experience with Palo Alto Firewalls
  • You enjoy collaborating across many teams using multiple forms of communication tools
  • You utilize your creative analytical and deductive reasoning skills are critical for this position.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or relevant experience.
  • Relevant cloud certifications are a bonus.
  • Relevant networking certifications are also a bonus.

About the Team

You will report to the Manager of IT Security on one of our teams under Security Compliance. You will work with teams across the business to build robust security measures to protect our cloud-based assets.
