Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Provide full comprehensive medical assessments and evaluations to patients in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP)

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide CPEP patients with a full comprehensive medical assessment and evaluation

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in CPEP for 10-hour shifts (nights & weekends) in order to provide 24/7 medical coverage.
• Preform initial assessment of patients with 24 hours of admission or arrival to CPEP.
• Complete full H&P including medical and physical status and initial diagnoses.
• Properly document H&P in EPIC.
• Immediately alert ED/Med Attending in cases of medical emergencies.
• Work in collaboration with CPEP team in order to ensure patient safety at all times.
• Work in collaboration with CPEP team in order to render optimal care for all patients.
• Work to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
• Prepare and submit monthly required reports.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and educational lectures.
• Actively participate in departmental Performance Improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment to Nurse Practitioner
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the New York State Department of Education
(NYSED); and
3. A current certification issued by the State Education Department to prescribe medication.

For Assignment to Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care/Behavioral Health)
1. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements of Nurse Practitioner, must be assigned to a
Primary Care or Psychiatric/Behavioral Health setting
