Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Nurse Practitioner will assume a dual role of providing direct health care to patients and administrative support to employees regarding job related injuries and illnesses. In collaboration with the Medical Director for health care assessment. Provide clinical and non-clinical supervision on a day to day basis in the Occupational Health Service Department for Gotham Health.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Provides evaluation and management of all Occupational Health related conditions and processes including: Annual assessment, Pre-Employment assessment, Return to Duty evaluation, Fit Testing Worker's Comp and Leaves evaluation.
2. Provides five (5) sessions of clinical patient care in Adult practice to credentialed sites
3. Provides five (5) sessions for general practice in OHS
4. May include rotating between sites to cross-cover OHS services
5. Performs the pre-employment, annuals, return to work, medical clearances and Fit tests to insure the physical and psychosocial health status of the staff and their fitness for duty via Televisit or in-person using Epic EMR and PeopleSoft.
6. Prepares maintains Epic records of all required reports such as TB screenings, Accidents/Injuries/Needle-sticks/Blood Bourne Pathogens, Exposures, Respirator Fit Testing and Immunizations including Influenza and COVID-19.
7. Provides contact tracing for all employees who are COVID-19 positive or potential exposures.
8. Provides COVID-19 vaccine monitoring and maintains the COVID-19 Vaccine Registry (CVR).
9. Verifies COVID -19 Vaccination Status
10. Monitors the COVID-19 testing status of unvaccinated employees.
11. Provides Point of Entry screening surveillance for COVID-19 and return to work instructions and clearance.
12. Coordinates employees' Influenza vaccinations efforts
13. Prepares and submit annual Influenza reports for HERDS and NHSN
14. A member of the following committees: Infection Control, Environmental, Joint Labor Management and Wellness.
15. Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings in the screening assessment to detect any changes in health status that require intervention.
16. Assessment and triage of minor illnesses and diseases to make appropriate referrals as required.
17. Provides Preventive maintenance including anticipatory guidance, advice, and counseling to all employees regarding diet, hygiene, safety, accident prevention, etc.
18. Initiates requests for laboratory tests deemed necessary and interprets the results where indicated.
19. Provides follow-up on needlestick injuries, accident reporting and blood and body fluid exposures.
20. Performs immunization against communicable diseases to protect employees from transmission and spread of disease (TB, HEP B, HEP C, MMR, Varicella).
21. Provides pre and post exposure prophylaxis for communicable diseases.
22. Provide prescriptions as needed for employees to treat basic needs.
23. Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Public Employee Safety Health Bureau (PESH) standards.
24. Attends interdisciplinary meetings, conferences, and continuing education
25. Develops and submits reports as required. (i.e. infection prevention and control)
26. Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
27. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
28. Knowledgeable and compliant with Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals.
29. Knowledgeable about ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
30. Demonstrates Jean Watson's Caring Theory in each patient contact to promote health and well-being.
31. Maintains competence through attendance at continuing education programs.
32. Demonstrates knowledge of fire and safety standards and maintains safe practice environment.
33. All duties to be performed on-premises.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

ACLS certification required
BCLS certification required

CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
3. A current certification issued by the State Education Department to prescribe medication.
