The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong customer service skills, effective communication skills and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Schedule: (3) 12 hour shifts, 7pm-7:30am, some weekends required.
  • Position Summary
    The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
    • License/Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
    • Experience: 1 year of hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Performs clerical and support duties including filing, photocopying, requisitioning and storing supplies, collecting statistics, and entering patient charges.
  • Accurately transcribes and processes Provider orders.
  • Routinely audits patient medical records for appropriate paperwork.
  • Interacts with patients' families, significant others, and visitors to promote patient satisfaction.
  • Monitors and maintains adequate supply of chart paperwork and patient educational handouts.
  • Operates and manages office equipment to maintain efficiency.
  • Assists in transporting paperwork and lab specimens.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
