CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a Systems Engineer for the Nuclear Monitoring Program, you ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for the operations, maintenance and sustainment of an international network of radionuclide monitoring stations. The Nuclear Monitoring Program provides remote and on-site troubleshooting support for a network of radionuclide monitoring stations for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

- Past experience in managing and executing projects
- Ability to travel to domestic and international locations to maintain/repair fielded systems (Trips are typically 1-4 weeks long)
- Build, test, and evaluate new equipment and sensors in an engineering test bed at our Chantilly, VA office
- Knowledge of Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, nuclear sensor technology, spectroscopy, noble gas science and data acquisition
- Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical skills is necessary. Actual hands on electrical and/or mechanical experience desired
- Proficient ability in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
- Clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards
- Creative thinker with ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity
