Compensation: $1,600 per month stipend

Valero Texas Open Overview:

Established in 1922, the Valero Texas Open (VTO) is one of 46 events that make up the world's leading professional golf circuit, the PGA TOUR. Raising money for charity is a central focus of the PGA TOUR and the VTO shares in that mission. Having raised over $256 million for charity since inception, the VTO is consistently the top charitable fundraiser on the PGA TOUR annually - with $24 million donated in 2024.

Each year, the VTO attracts 144 of the top PGA TOUR professionals, tens of thousands of spectators each day, millions of television viewers, and a list of blue-chip sponsors to TPC San Antonio and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.

Now, we would like to attract the top intern candidates to join our team for the 2025 edition of the Valero Texas Open.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist and support the Operations team with tasks including, but not limited to:
  • Temporary office setup, on-course construction, permitting, signage planning, parking, transportation logistics, and concert setup
  • Provide direction, support, and information to vendors and volunteers as necessary
  • Support staff, PGA TOUR officials, vendors, and volunteers with the physical preparation of the golf course, tournament site, and off-site areas
  • Liaise with Tournament Leadership Council (TLC) and manage the volunteer committee equipment/supply requests
  • Document progression of tournament setup and teardown through photography and creation of maps/diagrams
  • Track and inventory tournament assets such as golf carts, radios, signage, and other supplies
  • Coordinate vendor payments and expense tracking and assist with trade agreements and contracts
  • Work collaboratively with other VTO departments on other projects as assigned/needed


Job Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidate should...
  • Must be willing to move to or currently reside in/near San Antonio, Texas.
  • Must be able to commit fully to the Valero Texas Open, including long workdays and extended periods without a day off, especially in the four weeks prior to and the week of the Valero Texas Open. This includes working evenings, weekends and holidays as required throughout the period of employment. This is a full-time position.
  • Not mind getting their hands dirty;
  • Be self-motivated and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while exercising organizational, analytical, and time management skills;
  • Have strong interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution-driven, team-oriented work ethic;
  • Have a keen ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of individuals from entry-level to C-level executives;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to commute to main offices, TPC San Antonio temporary offices, and offsite locations;
  • Be comfortable making phone calls, setting appointments, and establishing/developing relationships;
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), internet software, and various social media platforms; Adobe Creative Cloud and SketchUp are a plus;
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.;
  • Be willing to earn a forklift certification and operate equipment such as telehandlers, utility vehicles, and skid steers;
  • Have a desire to work in sports/event management; completed a degree or working toward a degree in a related field (Sports Management, PGA Management, Business Management, Hospitality & Leisure Management, etc.) is a plus.
