The Operations Research Scientist plays a critical role within the Human Centered Design (HCD) team with responsibilities across all aspects of the cloud-based product development lifecycle including managing requirements, designing, developing, and testing digital solutions supporting military and civilian workforces interfacing with DoD enterprise applications.Lockwood Hills is looking an Operations Research Scientist to work in Orlando, FL. As an Operations Research Scientist specializing in cloud-based training applications within the Human Centered Design team, you will serve as integralmemberof the project team.The position requires extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams to create and manage scalable, secure, and efficient applications for DoD training partners and educational institutions. The HCD team provides expertise in areas of human centered user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design, capabilities-based test and evaluation, learning engineering, learning science and data science. The HCD team works closely with Engineering and Project Management within the broader Research and Development department. - Supports the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases for learning ecosystem-the modern, technological infrastructure required to supportthe delivery of digital learning and the optimization of learner datausageacrossthe enterprise- design and development.
- Performs applied research and research-to-practice translation of learning science.
- Supports the planning, design and conductof design research, as well asimpact studiesfocused on stakeholder key performance measures.
- Advises on training/education evaluations
- Records test data and prepare reports, summaries, and charts that interpret test results.
- Communicates scientific and technical information through oral briefings and written documents.
- Collaborates with HCD and Engineering team members, as well as external vendors in defining and sharing requirements.
- Typically resolves complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist.
- Often leads the work of project teams; may formally train junior staff; works independently with minimal guidance
- Contributes to process improvements.
- Balances priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Provides scientific and technical guidance and coordination among internal teams and IPT members.
- Requires management skills, experience with quality control, strong time-management and administration skills, and strong detail- oriented organizational.
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Industrial / Organizational Psychology or a related field and 2 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in mathematical modeling, optimization, and simulation.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Human Centered Design
- Experience or familiarity with:
- Requirements Management
- Cloud Platforms: AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Data Analysis: Investigating and interpreting data for decision-making.
- UI/UX design principles
- Data Science
- Agile/Scrum development processes
