Responsibilities
Dr. Yang Hou in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine at Florida State University (FSU) is searching for one post-doctoral scholar to work on a project about cognitive aging in middle-aged and older adults with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Co-investigators include Dr. Angelina R. Sutin at FSU and Dr. Pamela L. Wolters at the National Cancer Institute. NF1 is a genetic disease without a cure yet. Individuals with NF1 have a higher risk for cognitive impairments. This study will describe the group (NF1 vs. control) and age differences in cognitive function and how NF1-related disease factors (e.g., NF1 symptom severity) and psychosocial factors (e.g., psychological wellbeing, social integration, personality) predict cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults with NF1, controlling for demographic, clinical, and lifestyle factors.
The Postdoc's main responsibilities are data analysis and manuscript preparation. The Postdoc will also have opportunities to develop their own projects and participate in grant writing. This is a full-time position.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in psychology, human development, or other relevant field conferred within the last five years.

Qualifications
A doctoral degree in psychology, human development, or other relevant field conferred within the last five years.
- Strong statistical skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in multilevel modeling.
- Proficiency with R.
- Experiences or familiarity with the Health and Retirement Study (HRS).
- Experiences or familiarity with the modified telephone interview for cognitive status.
- Strong academic writing skills, as shown in publications.
- Publications in cognitive aging.
- Interested in life-span development.
