University Relations Outreach is currently accepting applications for a Outreach Events Program Coordinator.

About the Opportunity

the Outreach Event Program Coordinator will lead the strategic plan to engage alumni and friends in the recruitment of potential students, as well as other event and outreach activities. The role will identify and coordinate special recruitment and engagement efforts with alumni individuals and chapters, and with other key groups such as Student Government Association, Mountaineer Parents Club and other interested groups and individuals.

What you'll do:

  • Create a strategic plan and implement to engage alumni and friends in the recruitment of potential students to the University. This would include connecting with young alumni and providing opportunities for their participation.
  • Monitor and analyze event data that assists in event strategy and implementation. Develop and distribute charts and information as requested by event and recruitment teams.
  • Assist the Regional Recruitment team as needed in the planning, execution and follow up for special events, as well as assistance as needed at recruitment and professional organization fairs, ambassador programs.
  • Provide recruitment training and develop toolkits each semester for student organizations and WVU student ambassadors interested in recruiting.
  • Assist with development and implementation of strategy for recruitment of students from the local (Morgantown) area.
  • Develop and implement strategy for recruitment of students of WVU employees.
  • Complete other projects and assignments at the request of the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Outreach, and Director of Event Strategy.
  • Communicate with constituents on a frequent basis to inform and educate about activities, programs and outreach efforts of the University, as well as reinforce the institution's mission and values.
  • Throughout the summer months, assist with the New Student Orientation. Operate as directed by NSO lead, interact with Orientation Leaders, new students and parents.
  • Develop and implement a strategy, in partnership with the Alumni Association, to engage young alumni in assisting with recruitment and outreach to prospective students in key markets.
  • Assist with on-campus recruiting events including Discover WVU, Decide WVU, Distinguished Scholars, and Junior Preview, etc. Assist with twice-daily coverage of the Visitors Center by presenting and attending an admissions session where guests ask questions about the enrollment process at WVU.
  • Travel as needed to participate in events and sponsorships.
  • Assist with monitoring various Outreach vanity accounts, responding promptly to family queries.
  • Assist Visitors Center with presentations, tours and prospective student interactions as needed.
  • Participate in and/or coordinate special programs, events and workshops as needed. These may include but are not limited to; receptions, alumni training events, counselor meetings, Meet WVU and other in-market events planned by WVU groups, held outside of regular business hours.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

One (1) year relevant experience

  • Ability to relate to the concerns of prospective student and parents and have the ability to counsel on those concerns. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to advise students, parents and high school counselors regarding WVU admission requirements and to communicate attributes of programs and services offered.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, plan and oversee events.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of publication production, proper grammar, standard editing/proofreading procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to gather and analyze data, create charts and spreadsheets to assist and inform event and recruitment strategy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the undergraduate curricular and co-curricular experience at WVU or another major, public institution of higher education located in a college town environment.
  • Must be able to travel extensively (often overnight) and to work extended hours and weekends on short notice as needed. Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop constructive relationships with prospective students and their families as well as high school counselors, teachers and principals.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to rapidly learn WVU admissions requirements, basic housing and financial aid requirements and regulations.
  • Physical capability to transport materials weighing an average of 25-40 pounds.
  • Must be able to qualify for a university travel card (pass a credit check).
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.


All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with student recruitment or alumni relations.
