Job Description and Duties
PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - COLORADO DESERT DISTRICT / ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK
"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program)."
The reporting location is Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, 200 Palm Canyon Drive, Borrego Springs, CA 92004.
The reporting locations for the positions are Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in Borrego Springs or Tamarisk Grove Campground.
Park Aides are often the first person the public encounters when entering a State Park. You must be prepared to represent State Parks in a positive way. Applicants must be willing to purchase and wear a uniform and conform to minimal grooming standards. Enthusiasm for the mission of State Parks and an appreciation of our natural and cultural heritage are a definite plus. These are great positions for anyone interested in a career in Parks.
Applicants must possess the ability to read, write and speak English at a level required for successful job performance; demonstrate ability to follow directions; compute simple mathematical calculations; learn work procedures and park rules and regulations; perform various manual tasks; interact successfully with the public and address their concerns; and possess the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with park staff and volunteers. Training is provided. Applicants must be willing to work day shift or swing shift, weekends and holidays. A 30-40 hour work week is normal.
