Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or completed coursework in history, museum studies, and/or art history is preferred.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Historic Site Manager (HSM), the selected candidate will be involved in every aspect of historic site interpretation and visitor services:
• Welcomes visitors to the historic site museum.
• Provides guided tours of Crailo exhibits and grounds to various groups (schools, adults, families, etc.).
• Conducts off-site outreach programs in the Capital District.
• Assists staff in coordinating and implementing special programs and events.
• Assists with general operations and care of the historic site (may include climbing stairs and standing for extended periods).
• Researches and undertakes special projects.
• Contributes to site communication (social media, newsletter, written reports) as needed.
• Processes admission and gift shop transactions.
• Performs historic house upkeep tasks (as assigned).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs and walk and stand for prolonged periods including over uneven terrain while interacting with the public.
• Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to act as a customer service contact.
• Must have strong organizational skills, good attention to detail, and the ability to work well independently.
• Must keep up on all mandated training including First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Comfortable and competent with PCs and Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner
• Compliance with safety protocols.
• Should be affable, able to work well with the general public and serve as a team player with co-workers.
• Knowledge and interest in conducting historical research, managing multiple tasks and flexibility in scheduling and work assignments is a plus.
