General Summary
Depending on program needs, which vary by semester, the School of Social Work (SSW) at Eastern Michigan University may seek new Part-Time Lecturers to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social work practice, social work policy, social work theory, social work research and diversity. Graduate concentration courses focus on the areas of practice with child and family services; mental health and substance use recovery services; and health and aging services.
The position is based on course assignment availability each semester, with applications being reviewed on a rolling basis as needed. Although this position remains continuously posted, it doesn't guarantee that the SSW is currently hiring.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: prepare syllabus and course materials; instruct assigned course to meet overall course outcomes and program goals; establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning; meet with students during and outside of assigned classes; assess student work and performance; submit required course outcome information to assessment program staff; coordinate efforts with other instructors; and submit grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University policies and procedures.
Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
The selected candidate must have an MSW degree plus two years post-master's degree social work experience. Candidates with prior teaching or training experience and positive evaluations are highly desired.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between EMU and the Eastern Michigan University Federation of Teachers, which covers wages and other terms and conditions of employment.
