Children's Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the Division of Child Development, Pediatric Genetics into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently seeking a physician for the Division of Child Development, Pediatric Genetics. CHoR at VCU has a commitment to provide quality patient care and service excellence. The coming year will be an exciting time for the Department of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital of Richmond. Not only do we look to open an expanded facility but we aim to reach and revise goals for clinical care excellence in all things pediatrics, including Clinical Genetics.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
Will contribute to the education of residents, medical students, Genetic Counseling graduate students, and ancillary staff.
Research
Will engage in scholarship through presentations at national meetings, contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriate professional organizations.
Service
Will participate in tumor boards and other conferences with clinical colleagues. Participation in departmental, institutional and national committees is encouraged, when appropriate.
Clinical
Active participation as a clinician in various clinics and other settings, including telemedicine, and sharing call and consultative responsibilities with other Clinical Genetics physicians.
Required Qualifications:
Prospective candidates should be American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) board eligible/certified. The applicant must exhibit dynamic and innovative clinical and teaching skills, including in teaching and training of graduate students. The position requires demonstrated clinical and teaching experience. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
--MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree with Board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).
--Candidates must be qualified for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
--Must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
--Expertise in Clinical Genetics, particularly with experience in Metabolics and/or Adult and Pediatric Genetics.
--Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience and an interest and/or ability in research and scholarly activity as displayed through publication in professional journals and presentations at national meetings.
