Job Summary



The Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions independently within the delegated parameters delineated by their supervising Physician. The Pediatric Urgent Care APP will assess, diagnose, and manage episodic illness, injuries, and acute exacerbations of chronic disease of the pediatric patient. Responsibilities include performing history and physician examinations, ordering and interpreting radiological and laboratory test results, treating minor injuries, prescribing medications, documenting patient care services within the EMR, performing procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated through competency. The Pediatric Urgent Care APP reports to the APP ED Urgent Care Manager.



Job Specific Duties

  • Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physical examinations.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic tests with education and experience with establish protocol in collaborative relationship with supervising physicians.
  • Works effectively with physicians and other health care professionals as a member of the health care team.
  • Initiates emergency resuscitation and stabilization as necessary and complies with hospital safety regulations and infection control.
  • Completes clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, quality of care initiatives and research of special projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree of an approved program leading to eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Physician Assistant Licensure issued by the State of Florida-maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Certification by The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCPAA) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association PALS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • Level II fingerprinting Background Check
