Job Summary:

This Postdoctoral Fellow position reports directly to a Principal Investigator in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension. The overarching goal of our laboratory is to study the immunologic basis of kidney disease, and to develop novel therapies and diagnostic tools for treating patients with these diseases. The laboratory uses various immuno-assays to analyze samples from kidney disease patients. We also develop novel reagents and methods for measuring and blocking immune mediators. In parallel, the lab uses animal models, cell culture systems, and multiplexed tissue imaging methods to explore mechanisms of disease.

The position will entail experiments to analyze patient samples using various ELISAs, in vitro protein analyses, and flow cytometric methods. Results will be correlated with clinical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ELISAs, Western Blots, and other immunoassays
  • Flow cytometry
  • Cell culture and sterile technique
  • Recombinant protein production and purification
  • Careful and accurate recording of experimental results
  • Drafting of manuscripts that result from these studies, and presentation of the results at conferences and meetings

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD, MD, or PhD/MD
  • Previous laboratory experience is required, although it is not necessary to have experience with the specific methods used for this position.
